To cater to the changing needs of the industry in the area of mechatronics, quality manpower should be generated on an urgent basis as there is plenty of pull from industry. Industries want students trained to integrate electronics, controls, computers, and moving parts. For them, this is not just where engineering is going. It is where engineering has arrived. The course is unique with respect to the similar degree program offered by other Indian universities and is framed accordingly to educate graduate engineers to be an expert of multidisciplinary areas involving mechanical, electrical, electronics with software engineering. Excellent placement record through out the globe reveals the demand of our graduate product. At the same time, it has been realized that true benefits of Mechatronics cannot reach the common people unless Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics engineer has sufficient knowledge in it. Survey in present status of design / automation / research sector along with its future promise and challenges, pressure from research and academic institutes motivate this School to take a bold step of introducing PG course (M. Tech.) in Mechatronics in collaboration with three CSIR Laboratories, namely, CEERI Pilani, CSIO Chandigarh and CMERI Durgapur. This is unique and new initiative for generating trained manpower in the futuristic multi-disciplinary area of Mechatronics.
